white vinegar - the super powerful ecological cleaner

After the sodium bicarbonate, white vinegar is another essential natural  house cleaner. It is 100% biodegradable  and economical.

1- dissolve limestone
being very acidic, white vinegar has the power to dissolve limestone in a water boiler, and remove scale on bathroom tiles
 how? 
  • Spray the surface and leave 20 minutes than wipe with a microfiber. 
  • for the iron, put equal part of water and vinegar in the water compartment, warm the iron on steam than rinse couple of times with clear water. It also works for electric coffee machines….

2- remove burned grease on oven sides 
to clean the sides covered with burnt fat, mix 2 Tbsp of white vinegar with 2 Tbsp of sodium bicarbonate in 1 l of water and apply with a sponge to the sides of the warmed oven (the mixture will foam) 

3- shine dishes and mirrors and remove grease
how?  
  • add vinegar to rinsing water (you can also pour vinegar in the rinsing liquid compartment of your dishwasher) 
  • to clean windows, add some vinegar to a wet cloth, than dry the windows with a clean cloth and rub a creased newspaper.

4- clean toilets 
vinegar is anti bacterial and is a good alternative to bleach
how?
  • for a 500ml spray bottle. Pour 2/3 water for 1/3 vinegar and 2 tsp tea tree essential oil (HE) or other. Spray around the toilet sides and leave for 15 to 20 minutes than brush
  • you can also prepare a TOILET GEL (recipe)

5- remove rust on small metal parts
soak the rusted pieces in pure white vinegar

6- remove glue or sticker residue 
wet the residue with vinegar than scrub with a wet cloth

7- remove stains
put some vinegar on a cloth than brush the fruit, jam, mustard or coffee stains and machine wash normally 

8- fabric softener
add a little vinegar to the softener compartment

9- calm insect bites
put vinegar on cotton wool and leave a few minutes on the bite

10- as a hair conditionner
vinegar untangles and shines hair, pour in a spray bottle, 1 part of vinegar for 8 parts water and use on the last rinse (to avoid the vinegar smell use cold water)

11- cleans drains 
regularly pour vinegar in the sink and the wash basin to prevent unpleasant smells and maintain the drains

12- remove weeds naturally
spray on the unwanted weeds

13-  against ants
spray on places where they come in the house (skirting boards, cracks….)

14- clean dried or glued paint brushes
bring to a boil vinegar and soak the brushes in it, they will come out clean and flexible

15- clean glasses 
put a drop of vinegar on the lens than clean with cotton cloth


TO KNOW:
to improve smell, you can perfume your vinegar with:
  • essential oils 
  • orange or mandarins peels 
  • cinnamon barks
  • mint
  • ……
do not use with bleach
