I have already mentionned the 3 keys to good heath nutrition- sport - sleep, but today I want to emphasize the benefits of physical activity.
What is physical activity?
Physical activity involves any bodily movement caused by muscular contraction that results in the expenditure of energy.
Various forms of physical activity may be used to enhance our heath, we can divide physical activity in 2 groups:
Surveys reveal that most of us do not exercise enough, in fact surveys reveal that most adults Americans and Canadians have little or no physical activity in their daily lives.
Our way of life has changed over the years and we spend more and more time in front of our screens.
However we know that physical activity and health benefits are related. A sedentary life style has no health benefits but health benefits increase rapidly with low to moderate levels of weekly activity. Research evidence clearly supports the inclusion of regular physical activity as a tool for the prevention of chronic diseases and the enhancement of overall health.
The activity pyramid shows the official guidelines. Daily physical activity is a necessity.
What can we do?
Here are some examples to help build light physical activity into your daily schedule.
Physically active individuals enjoy a higher quality of life, a “joie de vivre”. They are less likely to suffer the symptoms associated with chronic diseases.
Nobody is too young or too old to add some of the health benefits of exercise.
